Professor Harris-Perry is the Maya Angelou Presidential Chair at Wake Forest University. An acclaimed author of books including "Barbershops, Bibles, and BET," and "Sister Citizen," she also founded the Anna Julia Cooper Center whose mission is to advance justice through intersectional scholarship and action. Prof. Harris-Perry notably served as host of the national radio program “The Takeaway,” and the eponymous "Melissa Harris-Perry" show on MSNBC, receiving the Hillman Prize for her exceptional journalism. Her diverse roles include Elle.com's editor-at-large and contributing editor for The Nation.
